During the fall of 2018, Sarah Cipkar of the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative (DWCC) approached me with an idea. Before long, I had been appointed lead editor, and we had brought on Sarah Morris as the artist for our newly forming print publication.

Downtown Forever is a community newsletter in the form of a zine about downtown Windsor, for downtown Windsor. Each edition has news, events and the stories of the neighbours presented through articles, drawings, photography and mixed media. Hosted by the DWCC, our current distribution is through flyering. We started small, as a black and white, double-sided legal sized zine. Every issue gets better as we clarify our mission, focus in on our vibe and get more connected to the neighbourhood. There are ample bugs to be worked out and I’m always excited to see the improvement from one edition to the next.
